Dog forests, walks, dog-friendly beaches and experiences in store: We've put together a small overview of some of the many dog-friendly walks, dog forests, the beach (unlike many other beaches, your dog is also welcome on our beach throughout the summer!), dog-friendly restaurants and attractions near the campsite. Holiday homes with dogs: You can choose from several different types of our holiday homes where dogs are welcome. These include selected 30 m2 Luxury Tinyhouses, all 25 m2 and Panorama Tinyhouses. So there's something for every holiday - whether you're looking for extra space or a particularly affordable holiday.

Camping holidays with dogs: There's plenty of choice when it comes to choosing a pitch for your caravan, motorhome or tent. You can stay wherever you want on the campsite. There are no specific dog areas, so even if your four-legged friend is camping with you, you can have the pitch of your dreams. Whether it's views, shelter, playgrounds...

We have pitches for every canine mind - whether you and your dog prefer a more private spot where not many people pass by, whether you want to be more centrally located, closest to the path to the beach and forest, or whether you want extra space around you on an XL pitch so your dog has more room to play.

The beach

Uniquely, dogs are welcome on the campsite's beach all year round, so you can swim, play,, and splash with your dog even during the summer holidays.

Dog forests

There are five dog forests in the area around the campsite. One, Arboretet, is just 5 minutes from the campsite, and the dog forest in Skive Plantage is only about 12 minutes away.

Dining and experiences

There are plenty of dog-friendly attractions close to the campsite, including GLASKAJAK® tours, Mønsted and Daugbjerg Limestone Mines, the old town of Hjerl Hede, and Spøttrup Castle.

Good walks: Directly from the campsite

When you're on holiday with your dog, it's important that there are plenty of opportunities for lovely walks so you and Fido can explore the area. Skive Fjord Camping's location in the middle of nature yet close to the pedestrian street and shopping in Skive City (approx. 4 km) means there's plenty to do for both dogs and owners on your holiday with dogs.

For example, from the beach in front of the campsite, there is a lovely paved path along the water's edge all the way to Skive Harbour (3 km) and Krabbesholm Forest (outskirts, approx. 2 km from the campsite). Directly at and around the campsite are small forest areas that are pleasant to walk in and easy to get to. When you walk along the Fjord Trail, you'll also pass through a couple of small wooded areas that go right down to the water's edge, and you can alternate between walking on the beach and on the path. You can continue all the way to Skive Harbour, located 3 km from the campsite via the path, where you'll also find two restaurants with outdoor seating, where dogs are also welcome, while you admire the many beautiful yachts.

Dog friendly beach: Bad og leg - også hele sommeren

The beach at the campsite is dog-friendly, so you are welcome to bring your dog to the beach to swim - even in the summer (with respect for other bathers and beachgoers, of course).

It's a bit unique, as dogs are unfortunately no longer welcome in the summer on many Danish beaches. However, here, you have a great opportunity on your holiday to take your dog swimming, bathing, and playing in the water.

Nature trails: Til de længere gåture med hund

Do you like to walk far? From the campsite, you have access to Salling's (the peninsula in the Limfjord on which the campsite is located) kilometres of nature trails that follow the old, disused railway tracks. Here you can enjoy a cosy, shorter walk together, or take a long walk that will tire even the most energetic legs and snout on holiday. The trails are mainly gravel paths with a few stretches of asphalt, so if you like to cycle on your holiday with your dog, the nature trails are also a good choice.

The nature trails follow the old railway track on the Salling peninsula, on which Skive is located, and the trails form a network of good routes that take you around the entire area. Salling is clearly marked by the fact that people have lived here for many years; you'll see burial mounds, burial chambers, castles, churches, manor houses, and how farmers have improved their cultivation methods over time with field boundaries that ensure that the crops are not affected by wind. 5 dog forests in the area:The closest one is just 5 minutes from the campsite

If a dog forest is a priority for your holiday with your dog, then luckily, you can find a dog forest nearby during your holiday at Skive Fjord Camping. There are five different dog forests in Skive Municipality - two of them within a 12-minute drive from the campsite.

One, Arboretet, is about 4.5 hectares and is located about 5 minutes from the campsite, while the other is located in Skive Plantage at the other end of Skive (about 12 minutes by car). There is a large plantation area with coniferous forest and two dog forests. There is a fenced dog forest where all dogs are allowed, and a special extra enclosure for dogs under 10kg. So you can go for walks in the open plantation area or let Fido loose in one of the dog woods where your dog can stretch his legs. If you holiday here at the right time of year, you may even be lucky enough to find Karl Johan mushrooms in the plantation forest area on your holiday dog walk.

Dog-friendly restaurants:Walking distance from two restaurants

There are several restaurants and cafés with outdoor seating nearby where you can take your dog out to eat.

At Skive Lystbådhavn (walk about 3 km):
Restaurant Ballast and A Hereford Beefstouw Skive at Skive Harbour (which you can walk to via the path along the water) both have outdoor terraces where you can bring your dog.

Dog-friendly restaurants in the area:
In the opposite direction up the coast is Lyby Strand Krostue og Iscafé, which, like the two restaurants at the harbour, has beautiful views of the fjord and a cosy outdoor terrace area where your dog is also very welcome while you are served delicious food.
Our personal favourite, Breum Landevejskro, serves some of the area's most delicious food, and it's also possible to sit outside so you can take your dog out to eat.

In Skive City:
There are plenty of places to eat in the city centre. Several of them have outdoor seating where you can bring your dog - Café Helmuth and Det Italienske Pizzaria og Bøfhus have terraces with outdoor seating where dogs are welcome.

When you go on holiday with your dog at Skive Fjord Camping, you are first and foremost located in the middle of beautiful nature, dominated by the magical view of the Limfjord, with rolling hills, fields, and forest all around.

Here you'll find birds chirping and peace. Still, you're only 4 km from Skive city centre with its modern pedestrian street filled with many exciting shops selling everything from clothes and shoes for the whole family to wine, glasses, chocolate, and books. Of course, your dog is also welcome in the pedestrian zone, so you can go shopping in the pedestrian zone on your holiday with your dog, without having to leave Fido at home in your caravan, motorhome, tent, or cabin.

If your dog is used to being on the water on a SUP, canoe, or kayak and you can get him to lie/sit on a towel or on your lap to avoid scratching his claws, you are welcome to take Fido on a GLASKAJAK® tour with VisionKayak.

Travel back in time at Frilandsmuseet Hjerl Hede with your dog:
Dogs are also very welcome at the beautiful open-air museum, Hjerl Hede. Like the Old Town, it has lots of unique old buildings, a water mill, a sawmill, a steam locomotive, an old-fashioned grocery store, etc. During periods, Hjerl Hede comes alive so you can experience old crafts, schools, and everything else with authentic life.

Experience Denmark's best preserved medieval castle with your dog:
At Spøttrup Borg, Denmark's most well-preserved medieval castle, you can walk in the footsteps of the old knights with your dog: the large park with medicinal garden and many other experiences is ideal for a lovely walk with your dog on holiday. At Spøttrup Borg, you'll also find live entertainment and medieval markets - including the large Bispens Market, which attracts people from all over Europe and has laid the foundation for significant events such as the World Championship in Medieval Martial Arts, where groups of fighters in armour and with swords compete in the quest to become world champion, as well as the World, European and National Championships in jousting with beautiful horses and knights with lances.

Go underground in the world's largest limestone mine with your dog:
Mønsted Kalkgruber is also open to dogs, so you and your four-legged friend can experience the world's largest limestone mine and explore the kilometres of passages and tunnels with your dog. You'll first enjoy a lovely walk in the forest to the mine entrance, and then another world awaits you. You can also bring your dog to Daugbjerg Kalkgruber, near Mønsted.

Dog-friendly holiday homes:Everything from luxury to affordable

Part of the magic of camping with your dog in Denmark is that your dog is welcome on your holiday. At Skive Fjord Camping, you can choose from several of our small holiday homes, tiny houses, and cabins, where your dog is also welcome. Because the whole family should be able to enjoy each other and the holiday together!

Dogs are welcome in some of our 30 m2 Tinyhouses and all 25 m2 and 20 m2 Panorama houses. Some houses are kept dog-free to accommodate allergy sufferers, but there is plenty to choose from for those with dogs, so it's just a matter of deciding whether you want luxury or value for money.

Choose the pitch that suits you the best:Choose your holiday location

We have a dog ourselves and like to holiday with dogs, so we know how important it is to be able to choose the perfect pitch for your holiday with your dog. That's why you can choose where you want to stay on the campsite when you bring your caravan, motorhome, or tent. No designated 'dog areas' exist, so you can choose the pitch that both two-legged and four-legged friends will like best whether it's views, tranquillity, privacy, playgrounds, shelter, or something else entirely.

Choose an XL or XL Panorama pitch, for example, if you want a little extra space around your caravan/camper/tent for your dog, or a pitch that is peaceful and secluded without many people passing by, if you have one or more dogs that like it that way. You can book a pitch in advance in the online booking, but you are very welcome to walk around the campsite on arrival to see if another place is more suitable for you and your dog.
