The history of the coins in the street

Toldstien winds along Skive's old town boundary from Nørreport west to Vestergade.The Customs Trail originated in the 1700s as a result of a demand from King Frederik the 4th to fence the Danish market towns, so that it was easier to ensure that customs duties were paid on goods brought into the market towns from the country. So, the king would fight smuggling!At night, the tolls walked along the fence to keep watch, and thus the Customs Path arose around the city. Now the western part of the trail is marked with 12 covers that tell the story of the area and about the Customs Trail. A number of "lost coins" show where the Toldstien was.Skive is probably built in the 1100s, but it is unknown when the town got the town rights.
